Tue, Jul 13th, 2010 10:17:00 am -
This morning Box 5-01 was struck for possible building fire at the Annville Free Library with initial reports of an odor of something burning coming from the basement. Crews arrived on scene as evacuations were still in progress and went interior to pinpoint the cause originating from the basement. Crews were met with a heavy odor of smoke and a light smoke condition in the basement before advancing to a room on the north side of the building. Egress was made into the small room finding a smoke condition and soot covering just about everything. The room was then searched to find a dehumidifier had malfunctioned, creating a small fire which had self extinguished leaving the lingering odor and soot filled room. After doing some overhaul to check for extension, the room was sealed off and the rest of the basement was ventilated with the incident being terminated a short time thereafter. Special thanks to all who assisted us on this assigment. Crews were out for less than an hour. |
