This morning crews were tapped out for a trash fire endangering the structure in the 100 block of W Sheridan Avenue. Assistant 5 went on scene and found a trash fire impinging on the structure. Assistant 5 held the box to Engine 5 and crews responded in, by the time the Engine arrived on scene, the fire had extended in to the garage creating a larger problem than what crews anticipated. The fire in the garage was quickly knocked down before the Engine crew migrated to the origin of the fire and extinguished it. The scene was brought under control in less than 10 minutes. Crews remained on scene to perform overhaul and douse any hot spots before returning to service. Company 5 was out for about an hour. |
